Barely two days after he assumed charge as Director of Public Instruction (DPI), B.S. Thirumeni has been shunted out of the department.

The Cabinet on Wednesday decided to appoint him as Panchayat Director.

Idukki District Collector Jeevan Babu will be the new DPI.

Panchayat Director H. Dinesan was appointed District Collector, Idukki.

The annual income limit for getting financial assistance from the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF) has been raised from ₹1,00,000 to ₹2,00,000.

The term of the Kerala State Fishworkers Debt Relief Commission will be extended for one year from March 28.

The Cabinet decided to open new sub-regional transport offices at Kondotty, Feroke, Payyannur, Chadayamangalam, Pathanapuram, Konni and Varkala and sanction 49 posts for these offices.

Two new government ITIs will be opened at Thuravur in Ernakulam district and Vellamunda in Wayanad.

Training centres

Training centres for the youth belonging to minority communities will be set up in seven districts, namely Kollam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kannur.
