Twitter account in Mayawati's name creates flutter

File photo of BSP chief Mayawati.LUCKNOW: A Twitter handle, ostensibly belonging to BSP chief Mayawati, created a flutter on social media on Tuesday after a tweet from it was shared by the account of BSP spokesperson Sudhindra Bhadoria.
The post which has been shared by Bhadoria's verified Twitter account is an announcement of Mayawati joining Twitter, posted on January 22. It said: "Hello brothers and sisters. With due respect let me introduce myself to the Twitter family. This is my opening and inauguration. @sushrimayawati is my official Twitter handle for all my future interactions, comments and updates. With warm regards. Thank you."
With Mayawati is known to be averse to social media, the post and its retweet by Bhadoria created a flutter on social media.
The handle in question was opened on October 2018 though the first post was made on January 22. Till Tuesday night, it had 2,104 followers and was following only a single account, that of Twitter Support. It also does not carry a 'verified' blue tick.
responding to incredulous questions on Twitter, Bhadoria tweeted: "Ji haan, yeh humare liye gaurav ki baat hai ki Behen Mayawati ji ka hi Twitter account hai. (Yes, it is a matter of pride for us that this is Behen Mayawati ji's Twitter account)."
While BSP was unable to confirm whether this was an authentic account, Bhadoria too could not be reached for comments.
