NEW DELHI: Light to moderate rains lashed parts of Delhi and the NCR early on Wednesday morning.

Heavy rains were experienced in Vasant Kunj, Vasant Vihar and Akshardham areas of Delhi.

The weatherman had on Tuesday said that the national capital might witness moderate rainfall and thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds and even a hailstorm at some places due to a prevailing western disturbance over the entire northwest India.

The Met has also predicted that the sky will be generally cloudy on Wednesday. Hailstorm is likely at isolated pockets, the Met added.

"The peak thunderstorm activity would be on February 6 and 7 when widespread light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorm accompanied with strong surface winds (20-25kmph) and isolated hailstorm is most likely over Delhi and NCR," stated IMD in its weather forecast.

Heavy and hailstorm over the northern plains are contributing to a wet spell over the north-west part of India.

The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover at 24 and 12 degrees Celsius respectively," it said.

On Tuesday, the minimum temperature had settled at 9 degrees Celsius.
