Absence of such amounts to discrimination against trans, gender non-conforming and non-binary individuals

The Ambedkar University Delhi Queer Collective on Tuesday submitted a proposal to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the university to integrate gender-neutral washrooms on its campus at Kashmere Gate.

The members said that the absence of gender-neutral infrastructure amounts to discrimination against trans, gender non-conforming and non-binary individuals, which goes against the anti-sexual harassment policy of the university.

In the proposal, the students wrote “...The introduction of gender-neutral washrooms shall affirm the ownership of trans, gender non-conforming and non-binary students, faculty and non-teaching staff by creating a safe space, free of bullying, harassment, and institutional discrimination.”
