PATNA: The Patna high court lawyers would organise a protest march up to Raj Bhawan on next Tuesday over their five-point agenda that has not been fulfilled by the state government since long.
The march would also be in support of Bar Council of India’s call for a nationwide agitation by lawyers for their specific demands.
Senior advocate Yogesh Chandra Verma on Wednesday said lawyers across different districts would organise the protest march up to respective district headquarters and hand over a list of agendas to district magistrates. Verma is chairman of coordination committee of all three associations of Patna high court.
“In Patna, high court lawyers would march up to Raj Bhawan demanding fulfilment of causes like enactment of law for lawyers’ protection, Rs 50 crore budgetary allocation for upliftment of lawyers and development of infrastructure and acquiring land for them at courts across Bihar as several newly opened sub-divisional courts are running on rental premises, Rs 5,000 monthly stipend up to five years to lawyers who had recently the profession and allocating fund for pension scheme for lawyers as it is lying dormant due to lack of money,” Verma said.
He said the governor and the deputy CM had met their delegation on the issue, but the CM had yet not given time for meeting.
