Failure to mobilise funds during his Janamaha Yatra

Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Mullappally Ramachandran has disbanded several mandalam committees in Kasaragod and Kannur for their failure to mobilise funds for his Janamaha Yatra currently touring various districts.

Mr. Ramachandran launched his campaign on February 3 with the twin objective of energising the party rank and file and mobilising funds ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. However, several mandalam committees failed to cough up the target fixed. Several committees handed over a portion of the targeted amount. KPCC working president Kodikunnil Suresh said the Madikai, Panathadi, Kodom, Belur, Delampadi, Pai Velika, Enmakeje, and Cheemeni mandalam committees in Kasaragod and the Ramanthali, Eramom Kuttoor and Chengalai mandalam committees in Kannur had been disbanded.

The KPCC president was apparently annoyed, if not embarrassed, by the failure of these committees, including those on his home turf, to cough up the targeted amounts and asked the District Congress Committee presidents to make alternative arrangements to manage the committees.

The committees that handed over a portion of the funds have been directed to hand over the rest of the amount within 10 days or face disciplinary charges.

The reasons for the failure of these committees to preform are not clear.
