Depressed over cough ailment 74-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his licensed revolver at his residence in Sunder Nagar area of South East Delhi, on Tuesday morning. Police said prima facie no foul play has been suspected; no suicide note was recovered from the spot. Police have recovered the gun he used to shoot himself.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Yadav Nath Bhargava, a resident of Sundar Nagar, was found dead in his bathroom.

"We received a police control room call at around 08:54 am at the police station informing about his father has committed suicide. On reaching the house, Bhargava was lying on the bed. While the entry and exit wounds of gun shot injury were present on his temple region," said a senior police officer.

During investigation, it was revealed that Bhargava had his own dry cleaning business at Kashmiri Gate, which was now being looked after by his son Gaurav.

"He was residing with his wife and son Gaurav. In the morning around 08:15 am, his wife heard a loud noise, Mamta Bhargava (wife) sent her servant Vedram to check and it was found that Bhargava was lying in the bathroom," said the officer.

While his licensee revolver was also found lying there. Family member stated that deceased was suffering from cough issue from last six years and was in depression due to that.

"It has come to light that the licensed revolver is also existing on the name of deceased and was in his possession. Meanwhile, no foul play was suspected by the family members," said a senior police officer

Police said that a crime team visited the spot and photographs have been taken.

"We have taken the finger prints while body of the deceased has been sent for the post-mortem," the officer said.
