‘Some media outlets publishing unverified, false reports’

PMK youth wing leader Anbumani Ramadoss on Tuesday denied that he had named a political party with which an electoral tie-up was being explored by his outfit. He accused a section of the media of publishing false reports on the PMK’s potential allies with the intention of maligning the party.

Interacting with journalists in Dharmapuri, he denied having stated that his party was holding talks with the AIADMK. “No party was named when the media asked me if alliance talks were being held. I had only said that an alliance would be announced in due course, as and when it is finalised. Even certain reputed publications are indulging in the publication of unverified or false reports,” he said.

His father and PMK founder S. Ramadoss, in a tweet, questioned whether some sections of the media were publishing such reports at the behest of someone. He said the media should not play the role of a ‘broker’.

Mr. Anbumani held out a letter from Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and said a rail link between Morappur and Dharmapuri, which was an election promise of the PMK, had been sanctioned. “The foundation stone for the project will be laid in 10 days in Morappur by Mr. Goyal,” he said.

The rail link will connect Dharmapuri directly with Chennai.
