Two Deputy Inspector Generals (DIG) Anish Prasad and Abhay Singh have been shunted out of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the first move by the newly appointed Director Rishi Kumar Shukla to put the country’s premier investigation agency in order.

Mr. Prasad, a 2003 batch Tripura cadre IPS officer, has not only been removed from the CBI but also prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre, while Mr. Singh has been placed at the disposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for his next posting.

The order came two days after Mr. Shukla took over as CBI Director on Monday. Earlier, the government had, similarly, removed two senior officials Rajesh Asthana and A.K. Sharma from the agency following an bitter wrangle between former Director Alok Verma and Special Director Rakesh Asthana.
