Google extends Assistant's 'Interpreter' mode to Home speakers, more devices

has extended the "Interpreter" mode on its to Home speakers and other third-party devices.

"For now, you must use English, French, German, Italian, Japanese or Spanish to start the mode. After you've started mode, you can ask to translate between more languages," the company wrote in a blog-post on Tuesday.

The feature supports 26 international languages including Hindi, English, Arabic, Korean and Portuguese among others.

Users can ask to "turn on mode" to invoke the feature on compatible devices and choose which languages they desire to use.

"When you hear the tone, start speaking in either language. You don't have to alternate between languages for the interpreter mode to work," the port said.

Using the interpreter mode on a Smart Display would allow users to both see and hear the translated conversation. They can also swipe from left to right to stop the interpreter mode.
