Man, 70, is charged over sick 'paedophile lunches' where 'troubled youngsters from boys' home were taken to restaurants and assaulted under tables'

  • Troubled boys from a school were allegedly abused at so-called excursions
  • The boys taken on 'excursions' to restaurants were assaulted by paedophiles
  • A 70-year-old man was ordered to face court on a charge of indecent assault
  • Police say the man wasn't employed at the school but was just a friend of staff

Troubled boys were taken on 'excursions' from a juvenile home to Sydney restaurants in the late 1970s and sexually assaulted by paedophiles at the dining tables, New South Wales Police allege.

An ongoing investigation into alleged historic abuse at the Daruk Training School near Windsor is now focusing on the so-called excursions.

A 70-year-old man on Wednesday was ordered to face Penrith Local Court on March 19 on a charge of indecent assault as Strikeforce Eckersley continues to investigate the abuse.

Strikeforce detectives have been examining child sexual assaults perpetrated at the school between 1965 and 1985.

The 70-year-old is the fifth man to be arrested so far.

Following the first arrest in March 2018, NSW Police said they were circling dozens of offenders after victims came forward with harrowing tales of genital mutilation and sadistic punishments at the government-run Daruk Training School.

Strikeforce Eckersley was established in late 2016 following a series of complaints made to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.
