Allotment of houses for poor to be cancelled
tnn | Feb 6, 2019, 04:00 ISTVadodara: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) is looking to cancel the allotment of houses constructed for the urban poor under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission in cases where beneficiaries handed over the houses to other persons.
The administrative wing of the civic body has proposed to cancel the allotment of houses in cases where the beneficiaries have given their house to someone else to stay. It will also seize the contribution made by the beneficiaries towards the houses in such cases and recover fine as well as pending amounts from them.
It has also come to light that in some cases the beneficiaries have exchanged houses amongst themselves. In such cases, the civic body has decided to collect 10 per cent of the beneficiary contribution as fine and then regularise the houses.
The administration has also proposed that the houses whose allotment is cancelled should be allotted to new beneficiaries at concessional rates. The VMC standing committee will take up the proposal for discussion later this week.
