Indore: The 30th Road Safety Week was inaugurated by state higher education minister Jitu Patwari here on Monday. Jitu Patwari said state government will introduce road safety in school curriculum soon. Students of Devi Ahilya School presented traffic song on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, DIG Harinarayanachari Mishra said traffic police have identified accident-prone areas. “With help of traffic engineering, possible changes were made to reduce accidents at these places. Efforts made by police to reduce road accidents in the city were recognised by urban development ministry,” he added.
Chief Guest Jitu Patwari appealed to residents to follow traffic rules after which he flagged off motor cycle rally. The traffic chariot and LED vans were flagged off by ADG Milind Kanaskar. District collector Lokesh Jatav and congress MLA Vishal Patel were also present on the occasion.
Activities during traffic safety week
DSP (traffic) Umakant Choudhary said programmes like helmet rally, street play, painting competition, driving training camp, eye check-up camp, traffic film screening and debate competitions will be organised at schools and colleges. Safety riding brochures will be distributed to residents. Special driving training will be provided to Magic van drivers.
