Policy will generate approximately 17 lakh houses in the Capital, including 5 lakh for EWS category

Union Minister Hardeep Puri will launch the online portal for the land pooling policy on Tuesday, said officials. The policy is set to generate approximately 17 lakh houses in the national capital, including five lakh for the economically weaker section (EWS) category.

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) had earlier said that a single window system would be created to facilitate all stakeholders.

Single window system

“Keeping in line with the goal of ‘ease of doing business”, a single-window system is being created for the implementation of the policy. Processes of receiving applications, verifications, grant of approvals and licenses will be completed in a time-bound manner,” the urban body had said.

DDA officials added that a two-stage grievance redressal mechanism within the DDA will also be introduced for transparency.

95 villages

The land pooling policy which aims to accommodate 76 lakh people will cover areas of urban extensions in 95 villages across the Capital. Any land holder owning a minimum of two hectares of land will be eligible to participate in the policy.

The DDA also said that an integrated sector-based planning approach will be followed and that a sector of 250 to 300 hectares of land will be eligible to be developed once a minimum of 70% contiguous land within a sector is assembled.
