Saradha scam probe: SC directs Kolkata Police Commissioner to appear before CBI
In what can be seen as a setback for the Mamata Banerjee government, the Supreme Court of India Tuesday directed Kolkata Police Commissioner, Rajeev Kumar to make himself available to CBI in investigations related to the Saradha chit fund scam. SC, however, said that Kumar should not be arrested in the case nor should any other coercive action be taken against him. CJI said that Kumar, should meet CBI officials in Shilliong. However, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has welcomed the verdict and said it is a moral victory as thay were never objecting on talks.
