SPPU to host ‘World of Myth’ event from Feb 14

PUNE: Myths are reflected in our daily activities but it has no reference in any study or research. Highlighting this factor, the Marathi Department of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has organised a national seminar on ‘World of Myth’ from February 14 to 16.

The three-day seminar will be inaugurated by senior Marathi litterateur Nagnath Kottapalle. Folk litterateur and researcher, Tara Bhawalkar will deliver a speech at the event. Nitin Karmalkar, Vice-Chancellor of SPPU and member of Management Council, Rajesh Pande will be present at the event.

“A human life consists of several myths. Even literature has mentioned about the myths. But because myths are immaterial, it has been always kept away from study and research. We need to perceive myth as predictions of mankind’s history. Therefore, to have a comprehensive discussion and get an overview of it, the seminar has been organised,” said Tukaram Rongate, Head of Marathi department. The three-day seminar will present forms of artwork from Marathi novels, stories, poems, theatre, Indian films, Adivasi art and literature.
