Kumbha month puja to begin on Tuesday
tnn | Feb 6, 2019, 00:00 ISTThiruvananthapuram: With the Supreme Court order on Sabarimala women entry review petition likely to be delayed, the Kumbha month puja at the hill temple will also be held under strict police surveillance. Sabarimala temple will be open for Kumbha month puja next Tuesday evening and close on Sunday. Though police haven’t finalized security arrangements at this time, sources said high security will be provided at Sabarimala.
A decision on the nature of security arrangements will be taken by state police chief Loknath Behera after discussing the issue with the chief minister in a day or two. Sources said, police would replicate security arrangements made for Thulam month puja for Kumbha month too.
Entry points like Erumely and Nilackal will have round-the-clock security by men and women personnel while only senior women personnel would be deployed at Sannidhanam and on the hill route from Pamba to Sannidhanam.
It is learnt that special branch will soon submit a report on plans of organizations like Facebook collective ‘Navodhana Keralam Sabarimalayilekku’ to send young women to Sabarimala next week.
The police would allocate special force to other regions if needed, based on special branch report.
