Kaizer Motaung jnr completes BCom degree

2019-02-05 09:59

Cape Town - Former Kaizer Chiefs forward Kaizer Motaung jnr is set to graduate from Varsity College after completing a BCom degree.

Following his retirement from professional football in January 2014, Motaung enrolled for a three-year degree with the aim of empowering himself and preparing for life after his playing days.

"I wanted to focus on studying, so in 2014 and 2015 I attended classes on a full-time basis. However, I took a hiatus in 2016 and 2017 to attend to a personal matter - I then went back to complete my degree in 2018," said an ecstatic Motaung.

Motaung is expected to graduate in April and is excited about the prospect of wearing his gown and hood.

"It’s a case of taking the opportunity as footballers," he continued.

"When we have the time to further ourselves, sometimes we don’t take it because we think our soccer career will last forever.

"Fortunately, I had great people around me who motivated me and emphasised the importance of working hard. I took the chance and I’m happy with my accomplishment."

When asked if he was done with his studies, Motaung said he would like to further his studies, but first intends to take a break.

"I’m happy with what I was able to accomplish but this is not the end. The great thing about education is that no one can take it away from you and I believe this will inspire and stimulate present and former players to improve themselves,” he concludes.

Kaizer will now be back at the club on a full-time basis putting into practice all that he has learnt on and off the field.

"Having been away from the team on a regular basis since 2014, I am honoured to be back and look forward to contributing to the future success of this great club."
