Ahmedabad civic body seals over 3,000 shops in three days over pending property tax

Ahmedabad civic body seals over 3,000 shops in three days over pending property tax The AMC has begun a drive to seal establishments that are yet to pay up property tax. In the past three days, around 3,000 shops have been sealed by the corporation.

These shops are yet to pay property tax between Rs 1 lakh-Rs 2 lakh. On February 1, 930 shops in different zones were sealed, followed by 1,100 shops on February 2 and 1,080 shops on Monday.

This is a regular exercise that AMC carries out every year in the month of February and March, but the drive has intensified this year, said sources.

On Monday, the maximum shops that were sealed - 241 - were in West zone. These shops were located in Chandkheda Highway mall, Orange mall, Silverline, Sigma Arcade and so on.

The shops sealed in the New West Zone on Monday include shops in R3 Mall, Amrapali Complex, Sankalp Restaurant, Arista Platinum Plaza, Gulmohar Party Plot, Orchid Mall, Titanium Gala Chamber, ICB Flora and so on.

The tax collection drive will continue this month and in March.
