GURUGRAM: A software engineer was allegedly assaulted and robbed by four people who offered him a ride in an auto from Rajiv Chowk on Sunday. An FIR has been registered against the accused at the Civil Lines police station.
Around 8:30pm on Sunday, Mohit, who works in South City 2, was at Rajiv Chowk when an auto with four occupants stopped near him and offered him a lift home, police said.
Mohit was then robbed of his laptops, mobile and wallet by the auto driver and his accomplices in a secluded area near IFFCO Chowk.
Originally from Mathura in UP, Mohit currently lives as a tenant in DLF 2. “I told the driver that I had to go to the IFFCO Chowk metro station. While he asked for Rs 20, I told him the usual price was Rs 10, to which he agreed. Before reaching my place, the driver stopped the auto at a secluded spot. He, along with the three passengers, then attacked me,” Mohit said.
He claimed that the assailants also threatened to kill him and dispose of his body. “They took two of my laptops, my mobile phone and wallet,” he added.
On Monday, Mohit approached police following which an FIR was registered against the four unidentified persons under Section 379-A (snatching) of IPC at Civil Lines police station. The police have scanned the CCTV footage of nearby areas.
“We are exploring the footage to trace the accused,” said ASI Gajraj Singh, the investigating officer in the case.
