Mumbai, A trainee pilot was injured, after his plane crashed at Indapur area in Pune district, due to a snag in the engine on Tuesday afternoon.Pilot Siddharth Titus (30), who sustained severe injury on the right hand, has been shifted to Baramati, for further treatment.
Academy office-bearers told police that Cessna 172 Skyhawk aircraft was flying at 3,500 feet, when it developed a snag.
No casualties have been reported on the ground.The plane, belonging to Carver Aviation, had taken off from an airstrip in Baramati town in Pune district and crashed a few minutes later, between 1230 hrs to 1300 hrs. The institute operates from Baramati.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Pune rural) Sandeep Pakhale said, ‘As per our primary information, the pilot was trying to land the plane on the road, after developing a snag in the engine. But, it crash-landed somewhere off the road.’
