Teacher held for molesting minor boy
TNN | Feb 5, 2019, 23:50 ISTThiruvananthapuram: The Kazhakoottam Cyber City police here on Tuesday arrested a school teacher on charges of sexually harassing one of his students.
The police have booked him under relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act as well as Information Technology Act and Juvenile Justice Act. The police identified the accused as Antony (53) a resident of Shooravani near Amboori outside the city limits.
The police said that besides being a teacher, Antony was also in charge of one of the hostels inside the school campus. The victim, a Class VIII student, was an inmate of the hostel. He allegedly subjected the boy for unnatural sex and even took obscene pictures of the boy. This continued for a month.
The boy opened up to his parents when he went home following which the latter reported the matter to the school authorities. The authorities informed the police, who registered a case and arrested the accused.
The arrest was recorded by Kazhakkoottam station house officer inspector S Y Suresh. The police also took steps to provide counselling for the boy.
The school authorities said that they have initiated steps to suspend the accused teacher. tnn
