Ailing woman dies after fall from building, suicide suspected
TNN | Feb 5, 2019, 23:53 ISTThiruvananthapuram: In a suspected case of suicide, a 45-year-old woman, who was undergoing treatment at the super speciality block of the Medical College Hospital was killed, after falling from a multi-story building located close to the hospital.
Jayalekshmi, wife of Vijayan of Kizhakkevila, Valiyasala is the deceased. She was undergoing treatment for renal failure at the hospital.
According to the police, the incident happened around 9am. She fell down from the fifth floor of a commercial building, City Plaza, which was located on the roadside outside the hospital campus, hardly 500 metres away from the super speciality block. Though she was rushed to the casualty wing of the hospital by onlookers, she died soon.
The City Plaza building housed a lodging facility in which several doctors lived.
“The security guard at City Plaza told us that she entered the building under the pretext of meeting a doctor,” the SI said. She approached the security guard and enquired whether the doctor was inside. Moments later, she fell down.
The police said that Jayalekshmi was suffering from renal disorder for the past one year. She was admitted to the MCH four days ago. Her husband, Vijayan, is a labourer. She also leaves behind two children, Deepu and Pooja.
