LUCKNOW: UP law minister Brajesh Pathak, who had quit Bahujan Samaj Party in 2016 to join BJP, said on Monday that Kumbh Mela has extended benefits to every caste without any discrimination unlike festivities organised by previous governments to appease one or other community.

"It was a hair raising phenomenon to walk along with naga sadhus and stay overnight at Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad (ABAP) president Narendra Giri's camp. I saw that caste-based discrimination at such festivals does not exist anymore. I saw everyone from Dalits, Yadavs, Thakurs, Brahmins sharing space with me at akhara and during Ganga dip," Pathak said.

The MLA from Lucknow Central said that he stayed at an akhara along with his family to partake in Kumbh's Mauni Amavasya snan on Monday without any protocol to send out a message.

Pathak said BJP's 'sabka sath' ideology was also reflected in the recent Interim Budget in which Narendra Modi government launched a pension scheme, Pradhan Mantri Shram-Yogi Maandhan' for workers in the unorganised sector.
