Parking e-ticket makes debut in city
TNN | Feb 3, 2019, 07:05 ISTLudhiana: The Ludhiana municipal corporation started e-ticket facility for residents through a mobile application from Feroze Gandhi Market parking lot on a trial basis on Saturday.
The application ‘FINLO’ is available online which people can download to book their tickets online. This app will also inform visitors about the available space in the parking lot.
The major aim of this e-ticket facility is to curb complaints of overcharging which has troubled the residents a lot. However, the major issue which will come while exercising this application is non-availability of manpower with the MC, which will have to handle the management.
On Saturday, a few employees were deployed in the parking sites to educate people about mobile application and its usage. For a few days, parking will be free in the market and MC will start charging money once people understand the system. The residents will have to download the app in their smart phones and they will be able to book the ticket through various online payment methods.
Along with e-ticket facility, people can get manual slip as well if they do not want to buy ticket in advance. The employee will generate ticket by putting vehicle number and contact number of the person concerned on another app ‘FINLO for business’ (which is only for contractors) and a bar code will be printed on the ticket. If contractor or MC employee has torn the printed rate on the ticket, person can scan that bar code on mobile and the ticket will open again.
MC commissioner K P Brar said, “We have picked one parking lot for the trial run and if it goes all well, the rest lots would be taken up gradually.” She said people will be educated about the system first and parking would kept free of any charges for a few days.
Requesting anonymity, an MC official said they would have to manage the parking because there are no contractors and only in Feroze Gandhi Market they require at least 70 employees. There are so many entry and exit points to the market, he added.
He said arranging staff would be the biggest challenge for the MC as it will need manpower to regulate vehicles even if it introduces e-ticket facility.
3 different colours for parking
Once the person buys the ticket, it will be in blue colour. When the person reaches the site and click the button ‘park me’, the ticket will automatically turn green which will give one minute to the visitor to park the vehicle. As soon as his vehicle is parked, the ticket will turn red which will signify that ticket has been used. Once the person leaves the parking lot, the ticket will be cancelled and available space will be shown on the app.
Mapping of parking lots
In order to give detailed information to the public about the space available in the parking lot, the MC will now provide maps of parking lots to the company that has prepared the application. These maps will be scanned and on the basis of available parking space, people will be able to check whether space is available or not.
Track free & paid parking sites
Once the residents use this application, they will get information about free and paid parking sites. They have to just click at the options and after filling their vehicle number and type (whether two-wheeler or four-wheeler), they will get the rates and payment can be done easily.
