Two killed, three injured in Agra-Lucknow expressway accident

AGRA: In a road accident on early Sunday morning on Agra-Lucknow expressway, BJP state general secretary Subrata Pathak’s father and uncle were killed and three other relatives were injured.
The accident occurred at around 3.20am near milestone 192, Faguha Bhataa village of Tirwa police jurisdiction, Kannauj district. In the accident, Subrata’s father Omprakash Pathak (65), and his uncle Mahesh Chandra (59) were killed. Mahesh hailed from Kakadev area of Kanpur.
After the accident, UP 100 and ambulance rushed to rescue the victims and took them to the hospital.
The deceased bodies were sent for autopsy in government hospital, while the injured identified as Ashok Kumar, Abha Tiwari and Jaishankar were admitted for medical treatment.
Informed about the accident, district magistrate of Kannauj Ravinder Kumar and superintendent of police Amrendra Prasad Singh went to the hospital and met the victim’s relatives and assured every possible help.
“The accident occurred due to dense fog. The family of five were returning from Ghaziabad from a ring engagement ceremony. Their speeding SUV rammed into rear of dumper which was parked on side lane of expressway. After the collision, another speeding bus hit the mangled SUV from rear, in which three were injured and two were killed in the SUV,” Amod Kumar, station house officer of Tirwa, told TOI.
“We have seized the dumper and bus. Once the written complaint is received from victim’s family, an FIR will be lodged against the accused person,” he added.
