SAD-BJP gears up pose tough questions
TNN | Feb 3, 2019, 07:39 ISTLudhiana: Even as SAD, BJP councillors in the morning assured mayor Balkar Sandhu of a peaceful MC house meeting on Monday, both parties in the evening conducted meetings with their councillors and leaders and decided to raise public related issues in the meeting.
Whereas BJP is likely to oppose the imposition of tatkal TS-1 facility and sale of MC properties and will seek justification about the previous announcements made by Congress leaders, the Akali Dal will oppose the shifting of dairy complexes.
In the morning, SAD-BJP councilors had agreed to go ahead with two-month trial run of the tatkal facility, but when BJP councillors conducted a meeting in the evening the district leadership asked the councillors to raise public issues strongly in the MC House. However, the councillors did not reveal their exact strategy, sources revealed that the session will surely be stormy. The BJP councillors will ask about Rs 3,600 crore announcements which were made earlier.
The SAD councillors also discussed the agenda and decided to oppose the dairy shifting agenda. The SAD councillors claimed the mayor should tell clearly whether they would shift the dairy units. On the one hand, the MC is planning to install effluent treatment plant on Hambran Road and Tajpur Road for dairies, on the other, they are planning shifting these units, they said.
District BJP president Jatinder Mittal said BJP councillors have been asked to take up public issues. Soon, the entire BJP leadership is going to kick off an agitation against Congress government.
SAD councillor and leader of opposition Harbhajan Singh Dang however refused to divulge details of the meeting, but said Akali Dal will perform the role of opposition strongly in the house.
The sources revealed that SAD-BJP councilors are not revealing their strategy because they want to see the mood of Congress councillors first as the MLA from East constituency Sanjay Talwar had already challenged mayor Balkar Sandhu on certain issues.
