Panchkula police book three more in 2019’s sixth illegal mining incident

PANCHKULA: In the sixth illegal mining incident of the year, the district police have booked three persons under various section of theft and the Mines and Mineral Act at Chandimandir police station for illegally mining sand from Alipur village in Raipur Rani. The complaint in this regard was moved by a resident of the village.
A complaint reached cops and mines and mineral department via a letter written by Nawab Hasan Murtaja. In his plaint, he accused Dilshad Khan, Mohammad Khan and Tika Mustarfa, all residents of Alipur village — of being involved in illegal mining in the area. He added that the accused used to threaten the villagers.
A case against the accused has been registered under Section 21 (4) of the Mining Act and under Section 379 (punishment for theft) of the Indian Penal Code at Raipur Rani police station.
Rajeev Kumar, the mining officer, said, “Strict action against the violators of the law will be taken and no one would be spared for breaking the law. My teams are working day and night and action is being taken against the accused.”

On January 15, a resident of Raipur Rani told cops that some persons involved in illegal sand mining threatened him. The accused were illegally mining sand on his land. The accused were booked under the Mines and Mineral Act.
On January 20, two different cases of illegal sand and gravel mining were registered by the Panchkula police on the plaint of mines and mineral department. Following a tip-off, a team of the department conducted a special check at river bed in Chandimandir area.
On January 21, during a routine check at Jaswantgarh village in Chandimandir, field staff of mines and mineral department found nine holes dug up around the river bed.
On January 23, another case of illegal mining was registered after officials found agricultural land near the river bed in Chandimandir mined illegally.
