Armed robbers strike at businessman’s house in Palsana

Surat: A gang of around 15 armed robbers broke into the house of a businessman in Siyod village near Palsan and decamped with with cash, ornaments on Saturday.
The robbers also thrashed the family members of Bhavesh Sihodya with blunt wooden object. They first knocked the door and when the family did not open the door they broke the rear door using a big hammer. Before carrying out robber at Sihodya’s home, they fastened the aldrops of other neighbouring homes.
Hearing the commotion, Sihodya’s family members woke up only to see over 10 men walking around the home with blunt wooden objects and pipes in their hands. After breaking the door, the robbers attacked everyone who came in front of them. They even looted the jewellery worn by the women and two ladies even suffered injury in the ears as the robbers pulled off their earrings.
Sihodya called police for help and within few minutes cops arrived at the spot. He also called his driver from neighbouring village for help and when he reached at the spot on motorcycle, the robbers have started running noticing police van. On being chased by the family members, one of the robber fired two rounds from his country-made pistol.
Sihodya lives with his parents, wife and brother’s family. They all were present at home and total six persons suffered injuries who were shifted to a hospital in Bardoli for treatment.
Police investigation revealed that the robbers escaped with cash and valuables total worth Rs 7.25 lakh. They stole damaged furniture and other material in home.
“We haven’t got any concrete clues yet but attempts are continue to identify the robbers,” said A M Muniya, superintendent of police, Surat.
Sources in police said that robbers with similar modus operandi were reported in the past in Unn area of the city and Waghodiya on Vadodara city outskirts.
