Yamuna Expressway land scam: Two CBI officials booked for taking bribe from former YEIDA official

GREATER NOIDA: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Sunday filed an FIR against two of its own officials including a former Tehsildar at YEIDA along with unknown policemen.

The bribery case of Rs 10 Lakh from the YEIDA official has been registered for managing the investigation of Rs 126 crore land scam with the help of unknown the Noida police officials.

The accused were identified as V.S Rathore, an inspector at CBI’s Anti Corruption Board at Ghaziabad, Sunil Dutt an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) at CBI academy in Ghaziabad, Ranveer Singh, former Tehsildar at YEIDA along with unknown officials from the Noida Police.

The action followed a raid by a team of six CBI officials at the residence of Ranveer Singh, former Tehsildar at Yamuna Authority at around 11 am on Sunday Morning where they stayed for almost four hours.

According to the FIR filed by the CBI officials on February 2, 2019, Ranveer Singh had paid Rs 10-10 Lakh to the two CBI officials and the police in order to get relief from custodial harassment for three of his accomplices who had surrendered to the police a few days ago.

"It is learned that the accused have been managing the investigation of this case with the help of unknown officials of the Noida Police. The accused Ranveer Singh has already paid Rs 10 Lakhs on January 31 to the two officials for showing nil recovery report in respect of his three accomplices during their police remand," stated the FIR.


The FIR further explained that in addition to the Rs 10 Lakh bribe, the two CBI officials had demanded Rs 25 lakh more from the YEIDA official to favor him by influencing the police officials. At which Ranveer had agreed to give Rs 20 Lakh to the CBI officials as the extended Bribe on Feb 2, 2019.


The case was transferred to CBI after a directive was issued by UP government in June 2018. Earlier it was being investigated by Dr.Prabaht Kumar who was then Chairman at YEIDA


The case finds its traces to June 2017, when a total of 21 officials of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority including its then CEO PC Gupta were booked for the alleged land fraud in 2013-2014. Including the CEO there have been five people already arrested by the Noida Police.


The accused had caused a loss of Rs 126 crore to YEIDA by purchasing 58 hectare of unnecessary farmland near Mathura through shell companies whose board had his relatives as members.
