A man is fighting for life after he was shot in the chest in the Brisbane's north-east.

Emergency services were on scene at a property on McCulloch Avenue at Margate after 11.40am on Sunday.

Two men and one woman were taken into custody after they were found a short time later in a nearby car.

The trio are assisting detectives with investigations.

Paramedics have taken the injured man with chest and arm wounds to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.
