Chaos and confusion prevailed at the National Education Society (NES) campus here, the centre for the Karnataka Teacher Eligibility Test (KARTET), on Sunday over seating arrangements.

For the first paper, there was a mismatch between roll numbers allotted on the display board installed outside the exam halls and the actual seating arrangements. Some candidates had verbal arguments with the officials deputed for supervision over this.

Deputy Commissioner K.A. Dayanand arrived at the spot and resolved the confusion eventually. The exam started 30 minutes past the scheduled time.

Mr. Dayanand told presspersons that after seeking permission from the authorities concerned, the candidates were allotted an extra 30 minutes time to complete the paper. As many as 200 candidates appeared for it.
