Event held to boost morale of Friends of Police, personnel

Vellore district police have organised a training programme here on Saturday to boost the morale of members of Friends of Police (FoP) and police personnel

Inaugurating the session, Superintendent of Police Pravesh Kumar asked participants to be vigilant against any suspicious activities taking place around them and asked the FoP members to report such incidents to the appropriate authority for timely intervention.

About 100 members of FoP and several police personnel were given training.

Former Additional Superintendent of Police, V.M.P. Asaithambi, while addressing the gathering said that members have more access in the community where secret information relating to various subjects like crime are likely to be exchanged.

If If the information is brought to the authorities concernedon time, it can help in preventing crime.

Fostering cooperation

information sharing and cooperation with the police are the key elements to the success of the FoP movement, he said. Classes on attitudinal changes and developing skills such as listening, problem solving, rapport building and teamwork were held during the programme. These skills will help FoP members to extend maximum assistance to the police personnel in crime prevention activities, said one of the Project Co-ordinators.

A participant said that the programme will also help police personnel in community policing effectively. Experts also dealt with issues such as police-public relationship and stress management.
