Get generic medicines from stalls at rly station
TNN | Feb 3, 2019, 07:05 ISTLudhiana: Passengers in need of common medicines while travelling in long-route trains will soon be able to get them at the multi-purpose food stalls at the city railway station. The railway authorities have issued directions to the food stall owners at different platforms to keep stock of low-cost generic medicines.
A notification has been received by local authorities to make food stalls owners aware about this service so that passengers can avail its benefits as early as possible.
Ludhiana railway station director Abhinav Singla said, “Railways has already told all food stall owners to keep such medicines with them.”
Passengers have hailed the decision, saying that they won’t have to go outside the station premises to get medicines for common ailments like indigestion, cold or bad stomach.
Notably, the the railways had mooted the proposal to stock generic medicines at the multi purpose stalls (MPS) at stations last year. The move was first initiated at the three railways stations in Mumbai —Churchgate, Mumbai Central and Andheri railway stations.
