Ludhiana: Khanna police arrest 2 with banned Chinese thread

LUDHIANA: Khanna police in the Ludhiana district of Punjab on Saturday arrested two persons after 85 rolls of “banned” Chinese thread were recovered from their possession at Anniya Mohalla in Khanna.


The accused were identified as Varinder Kumar Shama of Anniya Mohalla Khanna and Parminder Singh Babu of Gaushala Road khanna now at Anniya Mohalla Khanna.


Giving details, DSP Khanna, Deepak Rai on Sunday said that they have started a special campaign against anti-social elements. He added that during this campaign, police party was present near the Samrala Chownk in Khanna when an informer passed information about the illegal China-made strings (which was banned by Government of Punjab).


Police said that after getting the information, police party raided the houses of Varinder and Parminder. It added that during the checking, 40 rolls of China-made strings were recovered from the possession of Varinder and 45 roles of China-made strings were recovered from Parminder Singh’s possession, and in all 85 rolls of China-made strings were recovered from the duo.


DSP said that police later registered a case Under section 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of Indian Penal Code at Khanna City One police Station and they were arrested.
