Rishi Kumar Shukla appointed new CBI director

Rishi Kumar Shukla, former Madhya Pradesh Director General of Police, was Saturday appointed the new CBI chief, 20 days after Alok Verma was removed unceremoniously from the post following his bitter feud with Special Director Rakesh Asthana. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet appointed the 1983-batch IPS officer for a period of two years, a day after a high-level selection committee headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi met to finalise the name. The committee had met twice in the last nine days to choose the CBI chief. (Text: IANS)
