Russia Suspends Cold-War Treaty After U.S. Withdrawal: Kremlin

(Bloomberg) -- Russia has suspended its participation in a landmark 1987 nuclear disarmament treaty, the Kremlin said Saturday, a day after President Donald Trump said the U.S. is pulling out of the agreement citing years of Russian violations.

Russian President Vladimir Putin held a working meeting with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on Saturday, where he disclosed the plan to suspend the treaty negotiated by Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev, according to the Kremlin. Putin suggested Russia was open to further negotiations.
