Serial PIL filer goes to Supreme Court against budget
TNN | Feb 2, 2019, 07:20 ISTNEW DELHI: Even before finance minister Piyush Goyal could complete his budget speech in Parliament, advocate-cum-chronic PIL litigant M L Sharma claimed to have filed a PIL in the Supreme Court seeking quashing of the budget on the ground that the Constitution permitted only vote-on-account as the NDA government’s tenure was ending in three months.
Citing Articles 112 and 116 of the Constitution, Sharma said there was no provision of law permitting a government to present interim budget when it had a few months of its tenure left. Sharmahas requested the SC to set up an SIT headed by a former SC judge to inquire, fix responsibility and prosecute persons responsible for presentation of interim budget in violation of the Constitution.
