HAMPI/KARNATAKA: A video on social media showing three men purportedly damaging pillars at Hampi UNESCO World Heritage Site has created a furore.

Locals staged protest soon after the video, in which the miscreants can be seen pushing a pillar, began circulating on social media and demanded adequate protection for the monument.

"There are likely 4-5 people involved in it. Accused will be arrested and prosecuted," Bellary SP Arun Rangarajan said.

The development comes just days after the Times Magazine listed the Hampi World Heritage site as the second must-see place in 2019.
