Trichy: Special police battalion constable commits suicide

TRICHY: A police constable attached to Tamil Nadu special police battalion –I committed suicide by slitting his throat and hanging himself inside his room in the campus at Crawford in Trichy city on Saturday.
Police constable G Muthu, 26 a native of Ranganpettai in Ariyalur district was found dead at his room on Saturday morning. His body with a severe cut injury on his neck was hanging from the ceiling.
The suicide came to light after his batch mates called him up over phone to ask him to come to canteen for breakfast. Since he failed to answer their calls, they rushed to his room and found their colleague dead.
The Edamalaipatti Pudhur police took up the investigation. He joined the uniformed services in 2016 following which he was posted in the special police battalion in Trichy. He was unmarried.
The police sources said that he might have tried to end his life by injuring his throat with broken pieces of glass bottle. As he was still alive, he could have hanged himself from the ceiling to commit suicide.
The reason behind his murder was yet to be found out. The body was sent to Mahatma Gandhi memorial government hospital (MGMGH) for post-mortem.
