The State Cabinet sub-committees, formed to tour drought-hit areas, will submit their report to Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on February 4, said Cooperation Minister Bandeppa Kashempur, who also heads the Kalaburagi division committee.
The committee, comprising Mr. Kashempur, Social Welfare Minister Priyank Kharge, Mines and Geology Minister Rajshekar Patil, and MLA Ajay Singh, visited the Kodchi village of Yalwar GP in Jewargi taluk on Friday and interacted with MGNREGA workers.
Due to the shortage of rainfall, the farmers had sown in less than 75% of the targeted area in the six districts of Hyderabad Karnataka.
District authorities and CEOs had been instructed to provide additional days of employment under the MGNREGA even if the labourers had completed 150 working days. Replying to a question on the delay of payment under MGNREGA, Mr. Kashempur said it was so owing to shortage of allocation of funds by the Centre. The State government will find an alternative, he said. The State government has released ₹1 crore to task forces to tackle drought and authorities have been asked to address the drinking water problem on priority, he said.
