Will pressure govt to include Madiwalas in ST category, says GT Devegowda

Mysuru: “I will apply pressure on the government to include the Madiwala community in the Schedule Tribe (ST) category,” said Mysuru district in-charge minister GT Devegowda here on Friday.
Devegowda, who inaugurated the Madiwala Machidevara Jayanti celebrations at Kalamandira on Friday, said that inclusion of the community in the ST category was essential to ensure the economic and educational upliftment of Madiwalas. “The community still lags behind in many development indicators. More welfare programmes will be initiated to improve their living standards. I also urge members of the community to hone their leadership skills so that they can enter politics, and lend voice to the problems of the Madiwals,” he added.
