The third day of the five-day fashion extravaganza, Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2019 saw fashion designer, Payal Singhal unveil her latest collection, ‘Qo’shilish’. Television actor Mouni Roy who debuted in Gold opposite Akshay Kumar last year turned showstopper for the designer. Wearing a printed lehenga, Mouni looked every bit stunning as she sashayed down the ramp.
Mouni was earlier quoted, “I met Payal five years back, and luckily for her, her superlative designs and outfits precede the beautiful and kind person she is. I love her and her clothes. I remember telling her a year later that I want to walk for you and she said she will make it happen, and she did. I couldn’t be happier for the fact that my first LFW walk is for her.”
With ‘Qo’shilish, which means confluence in Uzbek, Singhal will explore the historic journey of Indian art and its cultural influences along the Silk Route, and showcase how creativity is not bound by boundaries or borders. The ensuing collection, a renaissance-meets-Mughal-inspired look incorporates ancient artistry techniques. The designer gave us an ample glimpse into new silhouettes like the Nizami sharara, short lean kurtas, contemporary saris and renaissance tops in her signature usage of fabrics like the crepe, velvet, silk, organza, brocade, tissue and georgette.
Mouni made her LFW debut wearing printed lehenga and accessorised her debut runway look with a golden clutch from Caprese.
Textured waves and subtle makeup upped her look.
On the professional front, Mouni will be seen in Romeo Akbar Walter, an espionage thriller film featuring alongside John Abraham, Jackie Shroff and Suchitra Krishnamoorthi. She will also be seen opposite Rajkummar Rao in Made In China.
