Khurda Road-Balangir rail line gets Rs 350 crore

BHUBANESWAR: The much-hyped 289-km Khurda Road-Balangir new line project was allocated Rs 350 crore in the interim budget. Last year, it had received Rs 625 crore for the work. The project was sanctioned in 1994-95 but the railways has completed only 66 km between Khurda Road and Nayagarh stations from Khurda Road side. It has also completed the first patch of 15 km from Balangir side. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently flagged off a train on this route.


The state government has formed a joint venture with the ministry of railways to carry out the project that is expected to be completed by May 2021.On the delay, ECoR sources said forest land between Nayagarh and Boudh has created problems.
