Ex-Microsoft Exec Pleads Guilty to Nearly $1 Million Super Bowl Related Scheme

An ex-Microsoft executive pleads guilty to fraud in a nearly $1 million Super Bowl tickets and fake invoices scheme.????Microsoft’s former director of sports marketing Jeff Tran oversaw his company’s promotional relationship with the NFL and when it came time for the big game, he was in charge of distributing Super Bowl tickets to his company’s employees.????However, according to the guilty plea, Tran sold over 60 tickets and over 90 tailgate tickets online for Super Bowl 51 in 2017, pocketing over $200,000.????In one instance, Tran even convinced a Microsoft co-worker to pay $12,400 for tickets that the company had already bought.????Court records show that Tran also created fake invoices, one of those was for $775,000 and was charged to Microsoft and then Tran had the money wired to his bank account.????When confronted by Microsoft, Tran destroyed evidence and asked vendors to lie.????Tran has since paid back over $1 million to Microsoft.

He plead guilty and as part of the deal, and will get no more than 3 years in prison.
