Kala Ghoda Arts Festival 2019: 5 workshops and walks every foodie must attend

The Kala Ghoda Arts Festival is all set to deliver this year an enthralling commemoration of 20 years since its inception. To mark the occasion the restaurants in the neighbourhood have put up a delicious feast. Each of the participating restaurants has put together a special menu called the ‘Flavours of Kala Ghoda’ to showcase dishes curated especially for these 9 days of the festival. Apart from the food stalls and restaurants, the festival also hosts some amazing workshops and walks that are a must-attend for every foodie. The food section has been curated by Roxanne Bamboat and Nicole Mody and like every year they have delved into the lives and passions of local food artisans and chefs. The festival brings together some amazing chefs, restaurants, food experts and food enthusiasts under one roof.

Here’s our pick from the food section that you can’t afford to miss.

An Asian Affair
The Asian Town restaurant is known for serving delicious oriental dishes. The workshop ‘Asian Affair’ will share tips and tricks to help cook Asian dishes at home.
When: February 6 from 4 pm to 6 pm

Regional Culinary Treasures
The chefs at Bombay Vintage share some of their favourite recipes that celebrate the regional cuisines that make the city a melting pot of cultures. Ghee roasts, unusual chaat and a lot more at this workshop!
When: February 7 from 4 pm to 6 pm

Dessert Diva
Dessert Queen Pooja Dhingra needs no introduction. In the workshop, Pooja shows participants to prepare easy stress-free and delicious sweet treats.
When: February 8 from 4 pm to 6 pm
Where: Le15 Cafe

Irani Chai
A food-walk through Kala Ghoda talking about some of the most iconic Irani cafes and their history.
When: February 9 from 9:30 am to 12 noon

Punjabi Tadka

A special workshop by Chef Amitesh Singh Virdi on the flavours and spices that shape the curries of Punjab. The story and recipes for these signature curries and how they became an important part of the cuisine

To celebrate 20 years of the festival, the participating restaurants have put together a special menu called ‘Flavours of Kala Ghoda’ to showcase dishes curated for the nine-day festival. Each menu served at the restaurant will have a lot more than just the regular fare. While you visit the festival, make sure you visit these restaurants to sample their menu.
