Suspected militants filmed a chilling video of the shooting of a 25-year-old woman, whose body was found in south Kashmir’s Shopian on Friday. Separately, security forces killed two Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) militants in a night-long operation in Pulwama.
The woman’s killers had shot the video with the intention to circulate it on social media platforms, said a police spokesman, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
The video, which shows the victim pleading for her life with folded hands, had been downloaded by hundreds of social media accounts across the State. The 10-second video also shows two bullets being pumped into the woman from a close range, after which she is shown lying dead on the ground.
The victim was identified as Ishrat Muneer, daughter of Muneer Ahmad Dar, a resident of Pulwama’s Dangerpora.
Ms. Muneer is a cousin of slain Al-Badr commander Zeenat-ul-Islam, who was killed in an operation in Kulgam’s Katpora area on January 12 along with his associates.
Meanwhile, the two JeM militants were killed in an exchange of fire on Thursday night.
A house was also damaged in the encounter, and ammunition were also recovered, police said.
