An ex-police officer who spent more than a decade using the police database to search the details of women he met online has been jailed.

Adrian Trevor Moore, 48, was slapped with a six-month prison sentence on Friday after he used restricted computer programs to look up the details of 92 women he had met online.

The former Western Australia Police senior constable also pleaded guilty to possessing obscene material, namely photos and videos of bestiality.

Among the dozens of women affected were those Moore had met on Tinder and Plenty of Fish in encounters stretching from 2006 to 2018.

The scheme was uncovered when a victim approached police with concerns that she may have been vetted.

A fake Tinder profile was then created by the force's internal affairs officers which were then searched for by Moore last March.

A third of the victims' details were checked by Moore multiple times over the intervening years in a total of 180 searches.

One woman's information was accessed 13 times over six years.

When police searched Moore's home following his arrest they found bestiality porn involving women, dogs and horses

Moore was sentenced in Perth Magistrates Court on Friday, when his lawyer Mark Andrews said his client was carrying emotional scars from previous relationships.

The lawyer also claimed Moore's primary motivation for accessing the information was finding a suitable partner with no criminal associations.

He was fined $2,000 for the obscene material and ordered to pay costs of $2,451.
