Prime Minister Narendra Modi
From housing to healthcare, several aspects have been touched in the Budget for new India. The development initiatives of the NDA government have touched several lives.

I congratulate the middle class for the relief in taxes thanks to the Budget for new India. I salute the middle class for their stellar contribution towards the development of the nation.

Over 9 crore people will benefit from the Swachh Bharat scheme.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi

Dear NoMo, 5 years of your incompetence and arrogance has destroyed the lives of our farmers. Giving them Rs 17 a day is an insult to everything they stand and work for.

BJP leader Arun Jaitley

The Budget is unquestionably Pro-Growth, Fiscally prudent, Pro-Farmer, Pro-Poor and strengthens the purchasing power of the Indian Middle Class.

The Interim Budget presented by Shri Piyush Goyal today marks a high point in the policy directions that the Government headed by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given to this nation.

Former finance minister P Chidambaram

It was not a Vote on Account. It was an Account for Votes. Thank you Interim FM for copying the Congress' declaration that the poor have the first right to the resources of the country.

Finance minister Piyush Goyal

Those sitting in AC rooms cannot understand the plight of the small farmers. Keeping this in mind, we have introduced Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. This is a historic decision.

BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav

Major budget relief to the middle class: Moderate taxation — High Compliance regime: Reducing tax burden on ordinary citizens — Tax exemption slab rises to up to 5 Lac annual income.

BJP president Amit Shah

The budget has met the expectations of farmers, labourers and middle class. By bearing a cost of Rs 75,000 crore, the govt will implement Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. This scheme will also benefit those farmers who do not take loans.

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor

The whole exercise has turned out to be a damp squib. We've seen one good thing that is a tax exemption for the middle class. Rs 6000 in income support for farmers boils down to Rs 500 per month. Is that supposed to enable them to live with the honour and dignity?

Union home minister Rajnath Singh

It’s a historic budget, and all the sections of the society will benefit from it.

Union minister Rajyavardhan Rathore

From small and marginal farmers to nomadic communities, and from unorganized labourers to the middle class, Budget 2019 has shown the commitment of PM Narendra Modi ji's govt to the welfare of every section of the society!

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee

This government has no moral authority or responsibility to place the budget for 5 years when they'll not be in power; the government will go for expiry. After expiry, if you give medicine, is there any value? What will be the value? This is absolutely valueless.

Union minister Suresh Prabhu

Indeed a budget for the people, of the people! Focusing on the 3 main components of our glorious nation - people, progress & prosperity. This budget will move us towards New India by 2022. We shall celebrate 75 years of our Independence with our heads held high!

Congress leader Ahmed Patel

If they were serious they would have introduced exemptions or the middle class in the last budget. On one hand, they say those earning below Rs 8 lakhs are economically backward, but that’s not what their budget says.

Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy

I want to ask if this budget was prepared by officials of the Finance department or RSS? In this budget, Narendra Modi has given cotton candy for farmers. When I announced a loan waiver scheme, PM mocked it as a lollipop. Friends of BJP have prepared this budget.

Union minister Nitin Gadkari

Heartiest congratulations to Hon'ble PM Sri Narendra Modi ji, Sri Arun Jaitley ji and Piyush Goyal ji. This budget is for the welfare of every section of the society as per our mission of 'Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas'.

PM Kisan Samman Nidhi is a huge relief to the farmers and will positively affect our agriculture sector. Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Mandhan Yojna will benefit at 10 crore labours of unorganized sector, giving them a sense of security and independence.

By increasing taxable income to Rs 5 Lakh, the household income of the middle class will further improve. Honourable FM has also targeted to rejuvenate all the leading rivers of India within the next 10 years. We are confident to complete it within the given timeline.

Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar

A balanced budget that will uplift every section of society and further stimulate India’s economic growth. Farmers, poor, middle class and youth are all set to benefit from Budget for new India. Congratulations to PM Shri Narendra Modi ji, Sh. Arun Jaitley ji and Sh. Piyush Goyal ji.

Swaraj India leader Yogendra Yadav

Budget 2019 actually rubs salt in the wounds of farmers. The 'historic' 6,000 rupees a year for a family of 5 translates to Rs. 3.3 a day. This is even lower than MNREGA or old-age pension!

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Budget 2019: All sections of the society including farmers, middle class, poor and women have been mentioned in this budget. This budget will help achieve the dream of a 'New India'.

MLA from Gujarat Jignesh Mevani

Absolute shocker! Budget 2019 does not even address the record unemployment rates announced by NSSO yesterday. Since independence, this is the most Anti-Youth budget presented! I cannot believe that there is no announcement about creating jobs at all.

Chairman Mahindra Group Anand Mahindra

I was bracing for a populist, profligate budget driven by ‘election panic.’ I’m just grateful that the reliefs to the key middle class & farmer segments were delivered in a measured way without risking bankruptcy of the economy. This was a controlled, pump-priming exercise...
