Vadodara: An express train running between Delhi and Mumbai came to a grinding halt for over an hour at Vishwamitri railway station in the city on Friday noon as the loco engine of the train failed.

Sources said that train number 12908 Maharashtra Sampark Kranti Express running between Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station, Delhi and Bandra Terminus, Mumbai remained stranded between 11.39 am and 12.52 pm at Vishwamitri railway station due to a technical snag.

According to officials of Vadodara railway station, there was a parking brake problem due to which the loco engine of the express train could not carry out its onward journey.

Although the up line was cleared at around 12.15 pm, the train departed from Vishwamitri railway station only at around 12.52 pm after a fresh loco engine was attached to the express train. As the Maharashtra Sampark Kranti Express came to a halt, movement of other trains on up and down lines also got impacted as nearly four trains were running late by a couple of minutes.tnn
